I’m delighted — and truthfully, a little humbled — to share that I’ve been included in Corinium Global Intelligence’s 2025 Global Top 100 Innovators in Data, Analytics & AI.
It’s not every day that you find your name listed alongside extraordinary leaders who are shaping how the world uses data and artificial intelligence. When I first saw the announcement, I did what any self-respecting data scientist would do: I ran a quick scan to ensure I was correct. You can see the list here.
Recognition like this is never about one person. It reflects the collective work, ambition and stubborn curiosity of the teams, partners and organisations I’ve had the privilege to support — across emergency-services telematics, data strategy, AI product innovation, and education.
Innovation in Practice: What My Work Looks Like Today
My career has always sat at the intersection of science, engineering, design, and the very human realities behind technology adoption. Today, my work spans a blend of hands-on technical leadership, strategy, research, and unashamed tinkering:
🚑 At Ortus Telematics
As Chief Innovation Officer, I lead our work in next-generation emergency-services telematics, sensor integration, asset tracking, and AI-enabled workflows. From redesigning telematics units to building a GPS-based location device to advancing UWB and RFID-driven asset tracking, our mission is simple: create technology that helps paramedics and emergency responders do their jobs more safely, more efficiently, and with clearer situational awareness.
The innovation happening within emergency services is often overlooked — but it’s work that truly matters.
🎓 With RogueLoop and Industry Consulting
I have the privilege of helping organisations develop AI strategies, improve data maturity, and translate complex technical trends into practical roadmaps. This includes leading AI strategy sessions, advising on governance, and building capabilities that balance ambitious innovation with safe, responsible deployment.
📚 In Teaching & Writing
My books, including the 2nd edition of Data Science and Analytics with Python and its companion Advanced Data Science and Analytics with Python second edition have allowed me to train thousands of practitioners. Being able to bridge theory with applied examples — from neural networks to transformers to graph learning — remains a core part of my work.
🏛 In Academic & Community Roles
Through my work with Imperial College and the University of Hertfordshire, I continue to support the next generation of data and AI leaders. The pace of change across the industry is extraordinary, and it’s never been more important to equip practitioners with both technical depth and ethical grounding.
Standing Among Brilliant Company
What makes this recognition especially meaningful is the company I share it with.
Many of the leaders listed, such as Leaders such as Cindi Howson, Cecilia Dones or Peter Jackson among others, have shaped the frameworks, governance models, product strategies, and operational practices we increasingly depend on across industries. Reading through the list is a reminder of how broad — and how human — this field really is. It’s a privilege to be included alongside them.
Why Recognition Like This Matters
Data, analytics and AI are no longer specialist domains. They are foundational to how organisations operate, compete, and create value. But more importantly, they influence decisions that affect people: patients, commuters, customers, families, and communities.
The best innovations don’t begin with models or infrastructure — they begin with understanding why something matters.
Whether we’re using AI to:
- improve emergency medical response,
- help regulators operate more transparently,
- guide students through education,
- or build safer, more effective AI-powered systems,
the impact is very real.
Awards like this shine a light on practitioners who are pushing the conversation forward responsibly — and that’s something worth celebrating.
Thank You
A heartfelt thanks to Corinium Global Intelligence, their editorial team, and Joshua Carroll for curating such a thoughtful list. The range of work represented — from health and finance to retail, public service, energy, and humanitarian sectors — is inspiring.
To all my colleagues, customers, and partners across Ortus, RogueLoop, Imperial/UH, and the wider community: thank you for the trust, the collaboration, and the ongoing curiosity that makes this work so rewarding.
To be recognised as one of the Global Top 100 for 2025 is an honour — and a motivation to keep pushing the boundaries of what responsible, imaginative, and human-centred AI can achieve.
Here’s to the year ahead, to innovation that matters, and to the other 99 remarkable individuals on the list.
