Opening Night Reflections – The Last Grasp

Opening night of The Last Grasp is in the books—and what a night it was! Despite a few gremlins in the lighting and sound (as all live theatre must endure!), the performance was a success, and the energy in the room was electric.

A huge thank you to the entire team at OSO Arts Centre for their support, patience, and dedication throughout this process. You make the magic happen behind the scenes.

And to the phenomenal cast—Tristan Pegg and Alfredo Mudie Smart—you brought the characters of Chase and Zen to life with wit, nuance, and incredible presence. Watching you two spar, scheme and philosophise on stage was a true privilege. Your performances anchored the absurdity and depth of the play perfectly.

It was also a real pleasure to contribute to another production in this season: The 8th Sin, written by fellow writer Brian Joseph. I had the opportunity to provide some consulting support for the creation of a static website used during a brilliant moment of audience participation. Thank you to director Robbie Westacott for the trust and creative freedom to bring that digital layer into the play’s world.

It’s been an exhilarating experience to both write and direct The Last Grasp, and to contribute to the vibrant ecosystem of ideas and collaboration within the OSO Writers’ Studio.

Onward and upward!
